MEDES, W. J., attorney at law and County Superintendent of Schools ; born in Cincinnati, O., Nov. 30, 1850 ; came to Keokuk in April, 1857. Mr. Medes is a graduate of the Iowa State University, at Iowa City, Class of 1872 ; he was admitted to the bar in March, 1876 ; in 1875, he was elected County Superintendent of Schools, and re-elected in 1877 ; he is editor of the Central School Journal, a paper devoted to educational interests, and of such merit that it has acquired a circulation of over 5,000 copies. Mr. Medes married Kate F. Hagny Nov. 29, 1877 ; they have one son— Hugh Lloyd.
