LAKE CITY — Rudy Engstrom, 95, died Sat. Sept. 28, 1919, at Stewart Memorial Community Hospital, Lake City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019 at Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Lake City with Pastor Paul Federer presiding and burial in the Lake City Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lampe Funeral Home, Lake City.

Rudolph “Rudy” Emil Engstrom was born May 19, 1924 in Swea City, to parents Walter and Daisy (Skaggs) Engstrom. He was a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1942-1945. On July 11, 1946, Rudy married Naomi Speicher in Buffalo Center. He graduated from Iowa State College in 1951 and was the Vocational Agricultural Instructor at the Lake City Community School District for over 35 years.

Rudy is survived by sons Tom (Linda) of Mankato, Minn., and David (Mary) Engstrom of Webster City; daughters Teresa Engstrom (Jere Blanchfield) of Minneapolis, Minn., Dawn Remsburg of Ames, and Ann (Mark Weinberg) of Big Sky, Mont.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters Darlene Alberts of Albert Lea, Minn. and Mildred “Millie” (Jim) Duflo of Fairmont, Minn. and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Naomi in April; son-in-law Kim Remsburg; sisters Loretta Angle and Mavis Fisher; and brother Lawrence Engstrom.

Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City handled the arrangements.
