The death of Mrs. C.B. Hutchins which occurred on Monday evening last was a shock and surprise to many, but to those who were advised of her condition for a few days before her death it was no surprise. As stated last week in this paper Mr. and Mrs. Hutchins both went to the hospital, suffering from bronchial troubles, both having contracted bad colds. Mr. Hutchins condition gradually improved, but that of Mrs. Hutchins became worse, her heart which had been weak for some time becoming affected and weakened more and more until it ceased to beat.

Deceased' maiden name was Fannie A. Wilson. She was born on the 19th day of November, 1850, at Gibbsville, Sheboygan County, Wisconsin, where she lived with her parents until their removal to McGregor, Iowa, in 1866.

In 1872 she married Dr. Horace Hamilton, one of the leading physicians of Clayton county. To them were born two daughters, one of whom died in infancy, the other is Clara, wife of W.H. Morse, formerly engaged in the lumber business in Algona, and now engaged in the same business at Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Dr. Hamilton died in 1882, and his widow continued to reside in McGregor until her marriage to C.B. Hutchins, February 22d, 1893, since which time she has continuously resided in Kossuth county, and for the last sixteen years in Algona, where she has endeared herself to a large circle of friends.

She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, four stepsons, to whom she proved a kind and loving mother, her daughter, two brothers, C.J. Wilson of Estherville, Iowa, and J.S. Wilson, of Hull, Iowa, and many other relatives and friends.

The uncertainty of life and the futility of human plans are strikingly presented in the death of Mrs. Hutchins. Mr. and Mrs. Hutchins had got their family and business affairs arranged this fall so that they could take a rest and enjoy life. They had worked long and hard and felt that the time had now come for rest and recreation. They planned spending the winter in California and going east in the spring and visiting in New York the boyhood home of Mr. Hutchins and the home of Mrs. Hutchins parents and many other places of interest, spending the summer there. They rented their house for a year and intended to start west on or about Nov. 25th.

The event that necessitates a change in those plans is a stunning blow to Mr. Hutchins, and in his great bereavement he has the sincere sympathy of the whole community.

The funeral services were held in the Congregational church Wednesday morning and were conducted by Rev. Jones. The daughter and brothers of the deceased were present, and the church was crowded with sympathizing friends.
