Obituary.
Henry Ebert was born in Germany in the town of Kleinseelheim in the province of Kurhessen, near the city of Marburg, in 1822 on the 9th of December. He lived with his parents until he was 30 years of age.He came to the United States in 1858 and stopped in Joliet, Ill. He afterwards moved to Livingston Co. On the 11th of March, 1868, he married Miss Ursula Spellman of Granville, Ohio. They moved to Iowa and settled on the farm where they now reside.
Father Ebert was a man of good health but nine years ago he first felt an attack of dropsy but he recovered from that and afterward for years enjoyed good health; but a year ago he was again taken with the same disease from which he died, Friday, October 22, 1897 at 3 o’clock P.M.
For the past year Father Ebert has been a constant sufferer and was perfectly willing to die. Religiously he was brought up in the German Lutheran Church. Since he came to America he did not unite with any church but he lived a very quiet, exemplary Christian life. He was a man of strong moral convictions and conscientiously lived up to what he believed to be right.
He was universally beloved by all who knew him and his departure will be felt by many outside of the family. He was 74 years, 10 months and 8 days old. He leaves a wife, one son, and two daughters to mourn their loss and to take up the work where he laid it down.
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. Hamerson at the house after which the body was laid to rest in the Whittemore cemetery to await the resurrection morning.
