Thursday, August 8, 1963Martin Gabel Rites Held Tuesday.
Funeral services for Martin E. Gabel, 62, a retired local farmer and seed salesman were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Swea City Methodist Church with the Rev. Gary Gabel, Mr. Gabel’s nephew, officiating. Burial was at the Harrison township cemetery.
Family services were held at 11:15 a.m. Tuesday at the Barnes funeral home.
Mr. Gabel died late Friday night at the Fairmont Community hospital where he had been a patient about two days. He had been in poor health for several months.
His wife survives, they had been married 40 years and had lived in the Ledyard-Swea City area.
Surviving are two sons, Floyd of Fayette, Mo., and Darold of Longmont, Colo. and six grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, August and Herman of Swea City and Theodore of Alden, Minn., and Roland of Council Bluffs and three sisters, Mrs. Elfreida Leland of Swea City, and Mrs. Ed Christ, Forest City, and Mrs. George Heitland of Clear Lake.
