Kathleen "Kathy" Maria (Fagerlund) Priester, daughter of Gene and Irene (Blomster) Fagerlund, was born on April 7, 1951 in Estherville, Iowa. She passed away at Mayo Health Systems in Mankato, Minnesota on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the age of 69 years surrounded by her family.

Kathy attended and graduated from Swea City, Iowa High School in 1969. She was united in marriage to John Francis Priester on October 21, 1978 in Swea City at the Immanuel Lutheran Church. After High School, she attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Estherville graduating with an Associates Degree in Business. Throughout the years, she worked as a bookkeeper at several different companies. In 1999, with her husband, they purchased the True Value Hardware Store in Swea City and operated the business until 2011.

Kathy loved spending time with her family, especially with her three children, Jeremy, Erika, and Stephanie. In 2006, she gained her beloved grandson, Talan. She enjoyed spending time attending his sporting activities, as she was his #1 fan. Kathy was such a sweet person, who would always put everyone ahead of herself, and would always be smiling.

She was a lifelong member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Swea City.

Kathy is survived by her husband John Priester; her daughters Erika (Ray) Amundson and Stephanie Priester and her special friend, Alan Petersen, and her grandson, Talan Priester, all of Swea City. Also survived by many extended family members and friends.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, her son Jeremy Priester, and her sister and brother-in-law, Pamela (Delbert) Lieurance.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Swea City with burial at Harrison Township Cemetery, Swea City.
