ALGONA SOLDIER KILLED OVERSEAS
Pfc. John Stebritz, 20, Loses Life in BelgiumAlgona—Mrs. John Stebritz was notified by the War Department that her husband, Pfc. John J. Stebritz, was killed in action in Belgium, Sept. 6.
He entered the service June, 1943, and went overseas in May 1944. While in the United States he trained at Camp Roberts, Calif.; Camp Makall, N. Car.; Ft. Benning, Ga., in a paratrooper school; and Ft. George, Meade, Md. He was in the infantry, being transferred from the paratroopers because of a foot injury received while home on furlough. His last letter home was written, Sept. 4, from France.
John Stebritz was born Aug. 18, 1924, at Algona, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Stebritz. He was married June 17, 1943, to Donna Dell Walker of Algona, who survives.
He is also survived by his father and step-mother; 4 brothers, Francis of Richmond, Cal.; Thomas, William and Jerry, of Algona; 2 sisters, Mrs. Homer Clark, Clintonville, Wis.; Mrs. Myrwin Dimond, of Wesley; 4 step-sisters and 5 step-brothers.
