Dr. Dean F. Koob, 58, of Algona, formerly of Sigourney, died Mon., Apr. 13 at Mercy hospital in Mason, City.

He was born Feb. 27, 1929 at Atlantic, son of Kenneth and Evelyn Parrott Koob. He attended school at Sigourney and graduated from Sigourney high school. He was married to Shirley DeCook of Sigourney June 12, 1953. He graduated from the University of Iowa School of Medicine in 1955, served an internship in Akron, 0hio, and spent three years in the United States Air Force. He moved to Algona in February of 1961 and had a family practice there.

He is survived by his wife; four sons, Mike, Jeff, Tom and Steve; one daughter, Mrs. Dan (Kathy) Redding; four grandchildren; one brother, Dr. K. Gene Koob; and two sisters, Mrs. Richard (Shirley) Adams and Mrs. George (Sharon) Roe.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Algona. Burial was in Riverview Cemetery in Algona.
