Theodore "Ted" Ditsworth, 64, of Burlington, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2008, at 9:06 a.m. at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines.

Born March 6, 1943, in Algona, he was the son of Harry Samuel and Esther Jennings Ditsworth.

Mr. Ditsworth was an auto mechanic at Delzell Motors for 20 years and then was self-employed. He served in the Navy Seabees during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed fishing and old cars and trucks.

Survivors include one son, Jayson Ditsworth of Gladstone, Ill.; one stepson, Brent Hillyer of Chicago; one stepdaughter, Dena Lewis of Burlington; six grandchildren; four sisters, Phyllis Snyder of Los Angles, Dorothy Cooper of Indianapolis, Nancy Walker of Algona, and June Long of Springdale, Ark.; two brothers, Cecil Ditsworth of Mason City, and Tom Ditsworth of Burlington.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.

The funeral with military rites for Mr. Ditsworth will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel with Rodney Bliesener officiating.
