ALGONA - Geraldine I. Weig, 83, of Algona died Monday, March 10, 2008 at Good Samaritan Society Algona.

A funeral service was held Thursday, March 13, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Algona, with Reverend Dennis Secrease officiating. Burial was in East Lawn Cemetery, Algona.

Geraldine Irene Weig was born Sept. 17, 1924, in Hobarton, daughter of Paul Joseph and Erma (Phillips) Palmer. She grew up in Algona, graduating from Algona High School in 1943.

Geraldine was united in marriage to Lyle Dwayne "Si" Hamilton on Feb. 16, 1946. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1962.

Geraldine was a waitress at the Chrome for 18 years. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, watching birds, and taking road trips.

She later married George "Cobby" Weig on Jan. 9, 1971 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

Geraldine became a resident of Good Samaritan Society in April, 2007.

She is survived by her husband George Weig of Algona; her three children, Lorraine Crull and her husband James of Waverly, Gail Carroll of Algona, and Ronald Hamilton and his wife Linda of Humboldt; two grandsons and five granddaughters; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four brothers, Robert Palmer of Algona, James Palmer and his wife Jeri of California, Leo Palmer of California, and Charles Palmer of Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Lyle; a brother Paul Palmer, and a sister Mary Fritz.
