March 17, 1953 - Kossuth County Advance - Funeral services for Joseph Kramer, 73, were held Saturday morning, March 7, at St. Michael's church, Whittemore. Father E.E. Apt celebrated solemn high mass, with Fathers Becker and Shumaker as deacon and sub-deacon. Burial was in the St. Joe cemetery.

Mr. Kramer came to Whittemore when a small boy with his parents. He died March 4, after a five months illness, at the farm east of town which had been his home for the past 16 years. Complications followed a stroke, and Mr. Kramer was hospitalized for a time at St. Ann, where an amputation was made below the knee of one leg. Mr. Kramer's first wife died a short time after marriage, and he later was married on Oct. 4, 1911 at Fort Dodge to Mary M. Lentsch who survives.

Their children are: Clarence and Raymond, Algona; Urban, Fort Dodge; Mrs. Lucille Watson, Royal; and Magdalena, at home. One daughter, Anna Marie, is deceased. There are 19 grandchildren, and five sisters and three brothers are: Mrs. Theo. Besch, of West Bend; Mrs. John Lenertz, Mrs. John Cunningham, John Sebastian, and Adam Kramer. Six nephews served as casket bearers at the funeral: Evan, Howard, and Lawrence Gisch, John, Marvin, and Ralph Kramer.
