Word was received in Algona Monday that our old-time citizen James Orr had died at Cherokee where he had gone from his home in Mason City for treatment at the cancer infirmary there. Mr. Orr had undergone an operation for a cancer on his face and was understood to be getting along nicely when complications set in and caused his death. James Orr was about seventy five years of age. He came to Algoua from Pennsylvania in the early eighties and lived here until about ten years ago, when he moved with his family to Mason City. Jas. Orr was one of the best house painters and decorators Algona has had. He took great pride in his work and was honorable in all of his dealings. He served during the rebellion in a Pennsylvania regiment with credit and was an enthusiastic member of the Algona G. A. R. Mr. Orr leaves a widow and a grown son and daughter. He belonged to the Masonic, Oddfellow and Woodmen lodges and was a popular and genial man. It is reported that the funeral will be held in Algona Thursday afternoon at 1:30 under the auspices of the Masons.
