Biography reproduced from page 390 of the History of Kossuth and Humboldt Counties, Iowa published in 1884:

Dumont A. Buell, of the firm of Booth & Buell, grocers, was born in April, 1840, in Monroe Co., N. Y. When thirteen years of age he removed with his parents to Ottawa, Ill., where he was reared and educated. He engaged in farming at Ottawa until 1880, when he came to Algona and entered into land speculations, at which he is still engaged. In April, 1883, he went into the grocery business with Mr. Booth. Mr. Buell was married Oct. 17, 1867, to Emma Hardy. They had two children—Hardy and Emma. Mrs. Buell died in March, 1877. Mr. Buell married, in 1879, Pamelia Thurber, a native of Illinois. They have two children—Ella L. and Julia T. Mr. and Mrs. Buell are members of the Congregational Church. Mr. Buell is a member of the Masonic order.
