Biography reproduced from page 657 of Volume II of the History of Kossuth County written by Benjamin F. Reed and published in 1913:

L. P. Anderson is manager of the Cooperative Creamery Company of Algona, which position he has held for the past four years. He was born in Story county, Iowa, on the 10th of December, 1875, and is a son of H. P. and Stina (Olsen) Anderson, both natives of Denmark. The father emigrated to the United States in 1872, locating in Wisconsin, later he removed to Story county, this state, continuing to live there until his death in 1877, at the age of thirty years. He was reared on a farm in the old country and always followed agricultural occupations except during the period of his service in the Danish army. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson had two children, one who died in infancy, and our subject. After the death of her husband the mother married his brother, A. Anderson, and they had five children: Walter, who is living in Mason City, Nebraska; Carrie, who married Earl Toothman, of Burt, this county; Emma, the wife of A. Godfredson, who lives in the vicinity of Burt; William, a resident of Seneca, this state; and May, the wife of Oscar Anderson, of Algona.

L. P. Anderson, who was only a child of two years when his father died, was reared in Kossuth county and educated in the common schools. At the age of twenty-two years he left home and secured a position in the Burt Cooperative Creamery as assistant butter maker, working there for two years. He then became head butter maker in the Garner Creamery, remaining for one year and next removed to Irvington and had charge of the Irvington Creamery for four years. Saving his earnings he came to Algona and bought a restaurant, which he conducted for three and a half years. At the expiration of that time he disposed of this business and took up his present position with the Cooperative Creamery Company. Mr. Anderson has prospered in his undertakings and owns a valuable farm of two hundred acres in Dickinson county and a pleasant residence in Algona. He is energetic and thoroughly reliable and has always so conducted his transactions as to retain the confidence and esteem of those with whom he has had dealings.

In 1900, Mr. Anderson was united in marriage to Miss Nettie Larson, who was born in Grundy county, Iowa, April 12, 1877, and was educated in the public schools of that county and afterward in Kossuth county. Mrs. Anderson has four brothers and two sisters, all living in Kossuth county. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Larson, natives of Denmark, live in Algona. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson have two children: Neva Mae, who was born February 16, 1903, and who died May 6, 1905; and Esther Lucille, whose birth occurred on the 1st of January, 1910.

Mr. and Mrs. Anderson are members of the Presbyterian church, and fraternally he is affiliated with the Masonic order, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Modern Woodmen of America, while both he and Mrs. Anderson belong to the Rebekahs. He gives his political support to the republican party. Such success as has attended the labors of Mr. Anderson must be attributed to his earnest effort, perseverance and natural sagacity, as he has never been given any assistance other than such as is accorded to every man of recognized worth and reliability.
