Biography reproduced from page 130 of Volume II of the History of Kossuth County written by Benjamin F. Reed and published in 1913:
Frank H. Boettcher, who engages in general agricultural pursuits in Hebron township, where he operates a half of section 22, was born in Posen, Germany, on the 28th of July, 1883. He is the only living child born of the marriage of F. August and Emma (Otte) Boettcher, who emigrated to America in 1887. They went direct to Blue Earth, Minnesota, where they resided for about four years. In 1891, they came to Kossuth county, purchasing two hundred and eighty acres of land. There the father, who was a farmer, continued his agricultural pursuits until 1908, when he and the mother removed to Elmore, Minnesota. She passed away about two years later, but he is still living and continues to make his home in Elmore. Mr. and Mrs. Boettcher had three children, the eldest of whom, an infant, and their son Carl, the second in order of birth, died in Germany.
Frank H. Boettcher was a child of only four years when he accompanied his parents on their emigration to the United States. Reared on a farm, he received but meager opportunities in his youth, his education being limited to seven years’ study in the German schools. His lessons occupied his time during the winter months, but in the summer he assisted his father about the farm, and while still in his early youth did the work of a man in the fields. By the time he had attained his maturity he was a skilled practical agriculturist and when he was twenty-one he left the parental roof and began working for himself. The habits of thrift and diligence he formed in childhood have dominated his life, and he is now numbered among the enterprising and efficient agriculturists of his community.
In 1904, Mr. Boettcher was united in marriage to Miss Augusta Anderson, a sister of C. J. Anderson, whose life history appears in this work, and to them have been born three children, Clarence, Erwin and Henry.
The parents are members of the German Reformed church, in the faith of which they were reared and are instructing their children. Mr. Boettcher votes the republican ticket and has for four years been assessor while he also served as constable. He is one of the highly esteemed citizens of his community, where both he and his wife have many friends.
