Biography reproduced from page 151 of Volume II of the History of Kossuth County written by Benjamin F. Reed and published in 1913:

George Ditsworth carries on general farming and stock-raising on section 33, Greenwood township, five miles southwest of Bancroft, where he owns two hundred acres of highly improved land. He is a native of the state of Illinois, his birth having occurred in Stephenson county, where his father, Samuel Ditsworth passed away. The mother, Mrs. Rachel Ditsworth, is still living and now makes her home with her son in Kossuth county.

The experiences and events in the boyhood and youth of George Ditsworth were very similar to those of the majority of lads who were reared in the country at that period. He obtained his education in the common schools of his native state and those of Carroll county, Iowa. While pursuing his studies he was assisting with the work of the fields and care of the stock, thus qualifying himself for the vocation he has so successfully followed. In October, 1895, he came to Kossuth county and bought his present farm, which was then the property of J. A. Weaver. It was entirely unimproved and during the intervening years Mr. Ditsworth has greatly enhanced the value of his holding by the erection of large, commodious barns and outbuildings, a comfortable residence, good fences and various minor conveniences, while his fields have been brought under high cultivation. By reason of his constant application, diligence and perseverance, as well as the intelligent concentration of his energies toward the accomplishment of a definite purpose, Mr. Ditsworth has prospered in a most gratifying manner. In addition to his fine farm, he is a stockholder and secretary of the telephone company; he is also a stockholder and president and a member of the board of directors of the Farmers Elevator Company of Bancroft, and he likewise owns stock in the Independent Harvester Company of Plano, Illinois.

On October 16, 1900, Mr. Ditsworth was united in marriage to Miss Jennie Wingert, a daughter of Jacob Wingert, and a native of Stephenson county, Illinois. Three sons have been born to Mr. and Mrs. Ditsworth, as follows: Russell, Walter and Harold. The two eldest are attending school.

The family attend the Methodist Episcopal church, in which the parents hold membership, and in politics Mr. Ditsworth is a republican. He has been president of the school board for eight years and for thirteen he served as school director. That he is most diligent and enterprising in his methods is manifested by the attractive and well kept appearance of his farm, every acre of which gives evidence of capable and efficient supervision.
