In 1909 he became a member of the Iowa State Engineering Society and was at that time the youngest civil engineer in the state of Iowa. In the spring of 1912 he entered the field as a candidate for county supervisor of the fifth district of Kossuth county on the republican ticket. He is a loyal adherent of the republican party, of which political organization his father is one of the strong leaders in northern Kossuth county.
While at college Mr. Erickson was a member of the Civil Engineering Society of the Iowa State University. He has fraternal relations with the Masonic lodge of Swea City and is also a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and a faithful member of the Swedish Lutheran church of Swea township.
