Dr. E. S. Glasier, a successful dentist of Algona, who has lived and practiced here since January, 1893, is prominent in professional circles and today enjoys a large, lucrative practice. He was born in Wisconsin on the 1st of June, 1862, a son of H. W. and Jane E. (Bosworth) Glasier, both natives of Ohio. The father, who was born in 1832, is a well educated man and has always taken great interest in educational matters, being at one time principal of the high school at Boscobel, Wisconsin. He and his wife are both living at a ripe old age in Bedford, Ohio, having returned to the Buckeye state from Wisconsin some years ago to pass their declining years in the state of their nativity among the associations of earlier days. They are the parents of nine children, as follows: Willis, now deceased; Fannie, the wife of Dr. Meredith, of Mankato, Minnesota; Charles, who is a resident of San Francisco, California; Cora, who gave her hand in marriage to P. M. Meyers, the secretary of the Milwaukee Railroad at Milwaukee; E. S., of this review; John, a practicing physician of South Dakota; Arthur, a dentist of Fort Bidwell, California; Gilson, a graduate of the Wisconsin University Law School, who now is state law librarian of Madison; and Edith, the wife of J. W. Dawson, of Bedford, Ohio.
Dr. E. S. Glasier received a liberal education in Wisconsin, graduating from the Richland Center high school. Subsequently he entered the State University at Iowa City, Iowa, from which he graduated with honors in 1887, receiving there his degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. He located for the practice of his profession in Richland Center, Wisconsin, and after six years’ experience at that place sold his practice and came to Algona, Iowa, in 1893, having practiced here continuously since.
In 1887 Dr. Glasier was married to Miss Belle McMurtrey and this union has resulted in the birth of two children. Elsie M. is now a junior in Cornell University at Mount Vernon, Iowa. Edwin Lee, a young man of twenty-one years, is a graduate of the State University at Iowa City and now acts as principal of the high school in Ida Grove, this state.
Dr. Glasier is affiliated with both the Iowa State Dental Society and the Mason City District Dental Society. In addition to his active connection with these societies he carefully peruses dental publications, thereby keeping abreast of the times in all his professional work. He is a republican in politics, while his religious faith is indicated by his membership in the Congregational church, to which his wife also belongs. Fraternally he is identified with the Masons and the Modern Woodmen of America, and both he and his wife are members of the Order of the Eastern Star. Dr. Glasier has by a broad, liberal education and extensive training in the dental sicence and by a long-continued and successful practice gained an eminent position in professional circles of Kossuth county and northern Iowa. Quick to grasp and grapple with all situations in his profession and uniformly successful in his work, he has achieved well earned prosperity. In his social and fraternal relations, as well as professional, he is a popular and highly respected man. His long practice and residence in Algona have surrounded him with a large circle of warm friends and he enjoys an enviable reputation as one of the most valued citizens in the community.
