Biography reproduced from page 437 of Volume II of the History of Kossuth County written by Benjamin F. Reed and published in 1913:

G. E. Sandors follows the occupation of farming in Hebron township, where in connection with the cultivation of the soil he is also engaged in raising high-grade stock, making a specialty of Percheron and Belgian horses. He was born in the vicinity of Fort Ridgeley, Minnesota, on the 29th of July, 1868. His parents were W. H. and Hattie (Green) Sandors, the father a native of Massachusetts, and the mother of New York. Mr. Sandors came west in 1861 and located at Winona, Minnesota, whence he later removed to Brown county, that state. After a few years’ residence there he located near Fort Ridgeley, where he remained for ten years, his next removal being to Blue Earth, Minnesota, which he has since made his home. Mercantile pursuits, farming and stock-raising always engaged the energies of Mr. Sandors, who is now seventy-seven years of age. The mother, however, is deceased, her death having occurred on October 1, 1910. They were married at Faribault, Minnesota, and became the parents of five children, our subject being the eldest. The other members of the family are as follows: Chester Julian, who is a resident of Omaha, Nebraska; William H., who is a plumber at Omaha, Nebraska; Frank T., who resides at Blue Earth, Minnesota; and Jessie, who is deceased. Mr. Sandors was drafted into the Union army during the war, but hired a substitute. Two of Mrs. Sandor’s brothers went to the front, one of them being killed in the service, while the other spent two years in Libby prison.

The early life of G. E. Sandors was passed on a Minnesota farm, where he received the training which qualified him for the vocation he is now following. In the winter months he devoted his energies to the acquirement of an education in the common schools, but his vacations were occupied very similarly to those of other lads living in the country. He remained at home until he had attained his majority, and then started out to earn his own living. He farmed for two years in his native state, coming from there to Kossuth county in 1892. Here he purchased one hundred and sixty acres of raw land on section 31, Hebron township, and after erecting thereon a shanty began plowing and preparing the soil for cultivation. He has been very diligent and enterprising and during the intervening years has converted his place into one of the attractive and valuable farms of the county. He now has a modern residence, while his barns and outbuildings are substantially constructed and afford ample shelter for both his stock and grain. He has one hundred and sixty acres of land under cultivation and he is also raising shorthorn cattle and Percheron and Belgian horses.

March 31, 1897, was the wedding day of Mr. Sandors and Miss Nettie D. Wood, and to them have been born five children: Jessie, Walter A., Esther, Oliver and Florn. Mr. Sandors was reared in the Presbyterian faith and in politics he is a republican. He is a man of progressive ideas in matters of citizenship as well as business, and during the period of his residence in Hebron township has contributed his quota toward promoting the welfare of the community as well as the development of its various public utilities.
