Biography reproduced from page 199 of Volume II of the History of Kossuth County written by Benjamin F. Reed and published in 1913:

Any man who starts out in life empty-handed, and through his individual effort rises to a position which commands the respect of his fellow citizens, is highly deserving of commendation, especially when his success has been won in a foreign land. Among this class must be numbered Carl Seibold, who owns and operates a half of section 9, Lincoln township, -- one of the valuable farming districts of Kossuth county. He is a native of Bavaria, Germany, born on the 16th of April 1865, a son of Leonard and Margaret (Seicrest) Seibold. The parents always made their home in Bavaria, although the father once came to America on a visit. They had two sons, the younger of whom, George, is deceased.

The youth and early manhood of Carl Seibold were passed in the land of his birth, and he was given the advantages of a common-school education. When he was twenty-six years of age he emigrated to America, coming direct to Kossuth county and for a year thereafter worked by the month in Ramsey township. He likewise spent a year in Germania, and then located on his present farm on section 9, Lincoln township. All of the improvements on this place, including the erection of buildings, have been made during the ownership of Mr. Seibold. He is a very practical man, exercises good judgment and foresight in the development of his interests, and is prospering in both his general farming and stock-raising interests, being numbered among the substantial citizens of his community.

In this county, in 1892, Mr. Seibold was united in marriage to Miss Minnie Stroebel, who was born in Germania, Iowa, and they have become the parents of eleven children, Elma, Lizzie, Minnie, Margaret, John, Leonard, Katie, Martha, Anna, Erma and Edna.

The family attend the Lutheran church, in which the parents and older children hold membership. Mr. Seibold enjoys the full rights of citizenship, giving his political support to the republican party, the principles of which he stanchly indorses. He has never ceased to be thankful he came to this country, as he here found the opportunities which he had been assured awaited every enterprising man. He is loyal to the United States and is instilling into his children the spirit of patriotism and good citizenship, although in so doing he does not teach them to disparage the fatherland, for which he still has a warm regard.
