Biography reproduced from page 238 of Volume II of the History of Kossuth County written by Benjamin F. Reed and published in 1913:

M. P. Weaver, postmaster of Algona, was born in this city on the 9th of October, 1872, a son of E. N. and Polly (Benschoter) Weaver. The paternal grandfather was Benjamin Weaver, whose birth occurred on the 1st of August, 1809, in Pennsylvania, and who was married to Miss Eva Myers. To their union fourteen children were born. Elizabeth is the wife of Jacob Minegar, of Elkhart, Indiana. Jonathan, who was killed in the civil war, was married to a Miss Healey, by whom he had four children. Aaron is married to a Miss Leonard, by whom he has one child, and they reside at Elkhart, Indiana. Samuel died in 1873 and Emanuel, the fifth in order of birth, is also deceased. Mary and William have both passed away. Christina became the wife of William Spade, of Elkhart, Indiana, and they have eleven children. Rachael married William Icenbice and resides in Elkhart, Indiana. Sadie became the wife of Russell Blair, of Elkhart, Indiana, and is the mother of two children. Catherine is the wife of Thomas Spade and has five children. David, deceased, married Louise Ross, by whom he had six children. E. N., the youngest of the family, is the father of our subject.

The last named, whose birth occurred September 6, 1834, was bought to Elkhart, Indiana, by his family when he was but a boy. He was reared in that city and subsequently was apprenticed to a carpenter. He remained in that city engaging in the carpenter’s trade until 1856. At that time he came to Iowa, stopping first at Dubuque, and the same year made the trip to Algona, partly by wagon and stage coach. He began working as a carpenter in this city and also conducted a shingle mill. He has always engaged at his trade and has assisted in the erection of half of the buildings in this city. He holds membership in the Masonic fraternity and is a republican in politics. Mrs. Weaver’s death occurred on the 14th of February 1901. She was a member of the Congregational church. To their union six children were born. Henry, the eldest, was born on the 29th of May, 1862, and is at present residing upon his farm near Kalispel, Montana. Helen, whose birth occurred on the 4th of December, 1864, is the wife of Theodore Fox, of Eaton Rapids, Michigan. May was born April 28, 1868, and is the wife of A. D. Bruner, of Des Moines, Iowa. Charles died in infancy. M. P., who is the subject of this review, is the next in order of birth. Lewis Edward, the youngest, was born on the 22d of august, 1877, and is married to Miss Lizzie Newman. They make their home in Sherwood, North Dakota, and are the parents of three children.

M. P. Weaver received his education in the public schools of Algona, graduating from the high school at the age of seventeen years. Later he was a student for two years at the North Iowa Normal School. About ten years ago he engaged in the abstract business and he has since conducted an enterprise of that kind. He served as county auditor for four years.
