Mrs. Margaret Schrader Bruns, daughter of Peter and Magdalena Schrader, was born September 14, 1862 in New York City. In 1866 the parent with two children came to Iowa and settled on a farm near Sigourney where Margaret grew to womanhood. On April 18, 1878, she was confirmed in the Evangelical Brick Church and on April 6, 1919, transferred her membership to the Presbyterian Church.

On February 4, 1886, she was united in marriage to Herman Bruns. To this union were born five children: Dick, Lena, (now Mrs. Goeldner), Henry, and Dora, (now Mrs. Kracht), all of Sigourney; and Else Clingan, who departed this life on April 25, 1921. Besides the husband and four living children there are six grandchildren, one of whom was born since her death.

Up until March of this year, Mrs. Bruns lived her married life on a farm near Sigourney; and she was known as a faithful wife, a devoted mother, a hard worker, a good neighbor, ready with heart and hand in all times of need. The heart of her husband trusted in her. Her children rise up and called her blessed. "A woman that feared Jehovah. She shall be praised. Her works praise her in the gates."

Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church on Wednesday afternoon, October 4, 1922 at 2 o'clock. Rev. C.D. Loehr, her pastor, was in charge, assisted by Rev. Crusius. The very large attendance, and the profuse and beautiful floral offerings, bore eloquent tribute to the high regard in which this good woman and her family are held. Truly "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."
