Myrtle Ruth Smith, 89, died August 19, 1987, at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She was born March 3, 1898 near Winfield, to David and Callie DeYarmen Wolf. She graduated from Olds High School in 1917. She lived in the Hedrick area for 50 years and was a member of the Christian Union Chapel near Hedrick and the Ben Franklin Hustlers. She had lived in Sigourney the past five years. She married Lester Smith, June 2, 1917. He died April 21, 1979.

She is survived by three sons, Harvey, Lyle and Merle; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; and a brother, Herman Wolf.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dale.

The service was held Saturday, at the Fremont Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Joel Alurand officiating. Burial was in Winfield Scott Township cemetery.
