Betty Gail Reed, 74, of Sigourney, died Fri., Oct. 18, 1991.

She was the daughter of Fred J. and Sarah Elizabeth Smith Stevens was born Jan. 9, 1917, in Mahaska County. She was graduated from Delta High School in 1935 and a graduate of Iowa Beauty College in Des Moines in a 1936. She worked as a hairdresser in Morning Sun, Washington and Wellman. She married Gilbert Reed on Oct. 3, 1931 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She owned and operated her own shops in Oskaloosa, Delta and Sigourney. She also owned and worked in her own restaurants in Leon, Delta and Oskaloosa. She was a member of the Delta Christian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Freda Stevens and Veda Fowler and one brother, Clifford Stevens.

She is survived by her husband, Gilbert; a son Ronnie and his wife Connie; two grandsons, Matthew and Christopher; two nieces, Colleen Crenshaw and Judy Grabans; three nephews, Rudy Reed, Allen Stevens and Dennis Stevens.

Funeral services were held on Sun., Oct. 20, 1991, at Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney at 2:30 p.m., the Rev. Max Johnson of the Assembly of God Church in Norwood officiating. Interment was in Garrett Cemetery, Delta.
