Vada O'Brien, 87, of Sigourney died Monday, October 19, 1992 at Sigourney Care Center.

She was born January 6, 1905 in Keokuk County to T.J. and Ella Beasley. She married Harold Rowland in 1924; he died. She married Ed O'Brien in 1952; he died March 14, 1982.

She was a 1923 graduate of Hedrick High School and attended Des Moines University. She graduated from Ottumwa Beauty Academy in 1941. She had owned a beauty salon for many years in Clinton and Hedrick and taught at Clinton Beauty
School. She worked as a state inspector before her retirement. She was a member of Sigourney Christian Church.

She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Rowland; a step-son, Thomas O'Brien; two grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; and five step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two husbands.

The service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Sigourney Christian Church, the Rev. Dan Sanford officiating. Burial will be in Pennington Cemetery near Sigourney.
