Dean Utterback, 68, of Davenport and formerly of Sigourney, died July 3, 1993, at his home after a lengthy illness.

He was born December 11, 1924, in Sigourney to Chester and Elizabeth Conner Utterback.

He married Alma Raley September 28,1947, in Sigourney.

He retired in 1978 from John Deere planter works in Moline, Ill., after 14 years. For 40 years prior, he farmed South of Sigourney. He was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippines and Japan.

He is survived by a daughter, Nancy Slack; two sons, Gary and James; five grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and two sisters, Louise Veldhuizen and Betty Claypool.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 7, at Reynolds Funeral Chapel in
Sigourney, with Rev. Frances Baumert officiating. Burial was in Pennington Cemetery.
