Karolyn 'Kate' Schrader

Karolyn "Kate" Schrader, 82, of Ollie, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

A memorial service is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Prairie View United Methodist Church in Ollie with, the Rev. Dave Peterson officiating. The body has been cremated and no burial is planned at this time.

Visitation is after 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fremont Funeral Chapel, with family present 5:30-7:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the Southeastern Renal Dialysis Center or sent to the family.

Mrs. Schrader was born Sept. 28, 1931, in Ollie, the daughter of Bret and Kit Davis. She married Harold G. Schrader Oct. 27, 1955, in Sigourney.

She lived on the same block in Ollie all of her life.

She worked for a time at Farm Bureau Insurance in Fairfield and sold Avon in Ollie town and the country are for nearly 20 years.

She later worked as a bookkeeper for Bub Hoskins in Richland and at Dietrich Grocery Store in Ollie.

She wrote the Ollie news for the Richland Clarion Plainsman newspaper for 25 years.

Her family and friends were her life line that sustained her through 13 years of dialysis.

She enjoyed listening to Friday night football games on the radio that her son Randy coached.

She also enjoyed visiting at Miss Kitty's Barber Shop and her Sunday morning friends, Garry and Larry.

She made everyone always feel welcome in her home.

Survivors includes husband; two sons, Randy Schrader and spouse Denise of Cherry Valley, Ill., and Scott Schrader of Ollie; one daughter: Kitty Snakenberg and spouse George of Ollie; one brother, Junior Davis of Fairfield; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bill and Francis Davis; three sisters, Fern Darby, Betty Reynolds and Jean Vest; and one granddaughter.
