OBITUARY

William 'Reese' Capps

William "Reese" Capps, 67, of Coralville and formerly of Richland, died Sunday, Sept. 21, 2014.

A celebration of life service is planned for 4 p.m. Wednesday at High Point City Church in Iowa City, with the Rev. Mary Feigenspan officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to High Point Church or to Iowa City Hospice. Condolences can be left for the family at www.lensingfuneral.com, the website for Lensing Funera Home & Cremation Service in Iowa City.

Mr. Capps was born Oct. 27, 1946, in Sigourney, the son of Robert and Jean Gillam Capps. He married Kathleen Olson Aug. 3, 1985, in Waterloo.

Mr. Capps grew up in various towns and was a 1964 graduate of Pekin High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served during the Vietman War from 1964-1968.

After marriage, he and his wife resided in rural Richland, where they raised their family and continued to live until moving to Coralville. in 2010.

For nearly 20 years, Mr. Capps worked as a maintenance mechanic for Performing Pipe in Fairfield until retiring in 2008.

Mr. Capps loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding his scooter and giving his grandson rides through the neighborhood, and watching the Food Network. He was the family handyman who could fix anything.

He was a member of High Point City Church and a past member of the American Legion.

Survivors include: his wife; four children, Cameron Capps and wife Melissa of Burlington, Darren Capps and wife Tracy of Van Meter, John Capps and wife Marissa of Richland, and Kayla Stanley and husband Cody of Libertyville; two brothers, Craig Capps of Kalona and Bradley Capps of Warrensburg, Missouri; two sisters, Gloria Goeke of Williamsburg and Candy Breon of Hedrick; and 12 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
