Mother of Editor Died Sunday

Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Goeldner and Marilyn went to Sigourney Tuesday to attend the funeral of his mother, Mrs. Dora M. Goeldner, who died at her home there Sunday.

Mrs. Goeldner was born on a farm near Sigourney October 24, 1877. Her grandparents were pioneer settlers in Keokuk county. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred D. Strohman.

In October 1897 she was married to Louis J. Goeldner, also of near Sigourney. They spent most of their life in that vicinity with the exception of a few years when they lived at Osceola, Ellston and Creston.

After Mr. Goeldner suffered a stroke in 1942 they lived in Earlham for about two years and then moved back to Sigourney to make their home with Mrs. A. M. Blaise, Mrs. Goeldner’s sister. Her husband died there in April 1952.

She is survived by three sons, Melvin of Osceola, Leslie of Earlham and Verne of Webster City. One son, Oscar, was killed in a farm accident when he was five years old. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services were held at the St. Paul’s Evangelical and Reform Church at Sigourney with Rev. William Cross, pastor of the church, in charge. Burial was in the Sigourney cemetery.
