Otto O. Utterback, 89, of Delta died May 5, 1986 at the Sigourney Care Center, where he had resided since 1981.

He was born March 12, 1897, in Warren Township in Keokuk county to Clarence l. and Loretta Coble Utterback. He operated a Standard Oil Bulk plant in Delta, and was also employed by the Keokuk county maintenance department and worked for the Iowa State Tax Commission. He was a veteran of World War I, serving at the United States Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Illinois. He was the mayor of Delta for several years and served on the school board.

He was a member of the Delta American Legion, Center Lodge 575 AF and AM in Delta, the Cedar Rapids Scottish Rite, the KAABA Temple, and was a 32nd degree Mason. He married Freda Marie Strohman on April 1, 1920. She died May 13, 1970.

He is survived by nine sons, Leland, Bruce, Hal, Larry, Jack, Loren, Jim, Newell K., and Richard; two daughters, Betty Steele and Ruth Stanley; 29 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and a brother, Paul.

Services were Mary 7, at the Delta Christian church. The Rev. George Mullins officiated with burial in Garrett cemetery near Delta.
