Martha Elizabeth “Lizzie” Utterback, 90, of Sigourney, died July 10, 1980 at the Keokuk County Hospital following a short illness.

She was born July 2, 1890, in Keokuk County, the daughter of Charles and Famy Bucher Conner.

She married Chester Utterback February 10, 1918. They farmed southwest of Sigourney until moving into Sigourney in 1964. They moved to the Manor House Nursing Home in 1975.

She was a member of the Christian church in Sigourney, the Chastain Goodwill Club and the Pioneer Barracks Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of World War I.

Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Louise Veldhuizen and Mrs. Harold (Betty) Claypool; a son Dean Utterback; 12 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren and a sister, Mary Conner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, a great grandchild and a sister.

Services were held July 12, at the Sigourney Christian church with Rev. George Mullins officiating.

Burial was in the Pleasant Grove cemetery.
