Harold McCreery

OLLIE - (William) Harold McCreery, 73, rural Ollie, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday at Ottumwa Hospital.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ollie Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe Selix officiating. Burial will be in Ollie Cemetery. Masonic services will be at 7;30 p.m. Wednesday at Fremont Funeral Chapel with Justice Lodge 230 in charge. A memorial fund has been established by the family.

McCreery was born March 22, 1909 at Pekin, the son of Andrew Leroy and Blanche Berridge McCreery. A retired farmer, he lived his entire life in the Pekin and Ollie area. On Dec. 29, 1928, he married Elizabeth Ridgway in Bloomfield.

Surviving are a daughter, Eloise Sloan of Oskaloosa; two sons, Roland L. of Ottumwa and Jackie Harold of Clearwater, Kan.; four grandchildren and one sister, Helen Knox of Mulvane, Kan.

McCreery was a past master of Justice Lodge 230 AF-AM, a district lecturer of Grand Lodge, past patron of Ollie Chapter 549, Order of Eastern Star, a member of Davenport Consistory, Kaaba Shrine of Davenport and Mahaska, Ottumwa, Washington and Fairfield Shrine clubs. Active in 4-H, he was one of the founders of Jackson County Busy Bee 4-H Club and a longtime member of Pekin United Methodist Church.
