Robert B. Condit, 81, a resident of Anamosa for the past 16 years, died Monday, Nov. 8, 1971 after a brief illness. He was visiting a brother at Freeport, Ill., at the time of his death.
Robert B. Condit was born March 8, 1890 in Cass township, Jones county, the son of Emory and Ida Black Condit. He was married to Inez Merritt at the Merritt home near Olin March 20, 1913. They made their home on a farm near Springville until moving to Anamosa in 1955. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ and the KP Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Inez, and six children: Mrs. Rex (Florence) Brooks, Elko, Nev.; Mrs. Robert (Byrdena) Taylor, Tuscon, Ariz.; Mrs. Delman (Ruth) Bowers, Waterloo; Mrs. Gerald (Norma) Carter, Carson City, Neb.; Donald D. Condit, Cedar Rapids and Robert B. Condit, Waterloo. Sixteen grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Robert Porter, Shannon, Ill., and a brother, Harry Condit, Freeport, Ill. also survive. He was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth; a granddaughter and his parents.
Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 12 at 1:3 p.m. at the First Congregational church with the Rev. Boyd Bonebrake and the Rev. Charles Willming officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Memorial cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call at Goettsch Funeral home until 10:3 a.m. Friday.
Casket bearers will be grandsons, Bruce Bowers, Rick Condit, Douglas Condit, John Conway, Larry Joens, Jeffrey Condit and Eddie Halvorson.
