Onslow - Funeral Services for Herman Carl Gutzeit, 81, were held April 30 at Onslow Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Theodore Neely officiated. Masonic services were held April 29 at Hayden Funeral Home. Internment was in Antioch Cemetery.
Mr. Gutzeit died at his home in Onslow April 17.
He was born June 30, 1887, in Prussia, Germany, the son of Ferdinand and Amelia Gutzeit.
He married Louise Conrad March 7, 1920 at Briedstedt, Germany, and the couple lived in Germany for six years before moving to the United States.
He was a harness maker and upholsterer for 40 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge Fraternity No. 619.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Karl (Anna Molly) Harksen of Davenport and Mrs. Charles (Herta) BeatTy of Seymor, Ind.; one son, Thomas of Onslow; and nine grandchildren.
Casketbearers were Carrol Bickford, Russel Chaplin, John Snyder, Marvin Null, George Wessels and Wilfred Wherry.
