16 September 1971 - The Anamosa Eureka

Adolph Stampe, 74, died at his home in Onslow Monday, Sept. 13. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 16 at 1:30 p.m. at Zion American Lutheran church, Wyoming. Hayden funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Adolph Emil Stampe was born in Clinton county Aug. 23, 1897. He attended Clinton business college, and was married to Leona Koch Sept. 25, 1924, at Preston.

He was employed for 13 years at the Goose Lake bank and 13 years at the Andrew bank and farmed east of Onslow for three years. For the last 25 years, he has worked at the Onslow Savings bank. He was a 50-year member of the Iowa Banking Assocation, and served many years as treasurer and on the council of the Zion American Lutheran church. He was president of the Industrial Bowling league, Maquoketa, and served on the board of Little Bear Recreation club.

Survivors include his wife, Leona; two daughters, Mrs. James Davis, Davis, Calif., and Mrs. Philip Fleming, Winston-Salem, N.C.; six brothers, Fred of Duendin, Fla.; Peter of Clinton, Virtus of Dubuque, Marvin of Newport, Ky.; Herbert of Racine, Wis., and Leroy of Welton; two sisters, Mrs. Elmo Black of Eureka, Calif.; and Mrs. William Martin of Bensonville, Ill., and three grandchildren.
