9 September 1971 - The Anamosa Eureka

OXFORD JUNCTION - Funeral services were held at the United Methodist church Saturday, Sept. 4, for Martin G. Neff, 85. He died at the Jackson County Public hospital at Maquoketa, following a brief illness, Wednesday, Sept. 1. The Rev. Rodney Turner officiated at the services. Mrs. Hans Ahrendsen and Mrs. Otto Koranda were vocalists.

Neff was born in Clinton county on Jan. 12, 1886. He was the son of David and Mary Catherine Weiss Neff. Except for about three years when he worked for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad, he farmed in Clinton county. August 14, 1933, he was married to Caroline Allamand. He retired in 1966, when he and his wife moved to Oxford Junction.

Survivors are his wife and children: James L., Smyrna, Ga.; Gerald, Pleasant Valley; Mrs. James (Carol) Wenndt, Neenah, Wisc.; David, Princeton; Mrs. Lowell Martin, Lowden; Mrs. Charles Brandt and Mrs. Harold Petersen, Davenport, and Kenneth, Portland, Ore. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery at Calamus. Pallbearers were Hans R. Ahrendsen, John Burhop, sr., James Clapp, Meryl Fields, Donald Hainstock and Paul Zell.
