OXFORD JUNCTION - Funeral services for John A. Lawrence, 93, Oxford Junction, were held Friday, July 30, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart church. Rosary was recited Thursday evening at Hayden Funeral home. Interment was at Mayflower cemetery, Oxford Junction. The Rev. Robert Swift officiated at the services.

Lawrence died July 27 at Jackson County Public hospital, Maquoketa, following a brief illness. He was born near Prairieburg, April 16, 1878, the son of John and Barbara Stock Lawrence.

He was married to Blanche Ruley, April 28, 1908, at Sacred Heart church, Oxford Junction. They lived near Prairieburg for a short time and most of their married life was spent farming near Oxford Junction. He was retired from farming but continued living there.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic church.

He is survived by three sons, George, Levi and John, jr., all of Oxford Junction. He is also survived by a nephew, Clement Marek, Oxford Junction, who lived with the Lawrences. Several other nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, three brothers and two sisters.

Casketbearers were Bernard Sterk, Otto Benischek, Paul Benischek, Jerry Mulvihill, Edward Knake and James Kostichek.
