Charles M. Cruikshank, 76, died at his home in Anamosa, Saturday, March 20, after a long illness.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 23, at St. Patrick's Catholic church. Mass will be celebrated by his son, Rev. Daniel Leo Cruikshank, O.S.B., of St. Bede Abbey, Peru, Ill.

McNamara Funeral home is in charge.

Assisting with the service will be Very Rev. Father Prior Peter Zurek, O.S.B., Peru, Ill.; Rev. Michael Callahan, O.S.B., Peru, and Very Rev. Monsignor R. G. Peters, O.S.B., Peoria, Ill.

Burial will be in Holy Cross cemetery, Anamosa.

Casket bearers will be Clarence Healy, Walter Ronen, Pat Sampica, Bernard Patnode, Lawrence Shanney and Newman Urbanek.

Mr. Cruikshank was born Dec. 16, 1877, at Trenton, Ontario, Canada. He was married to Miss Anna F. Green, Stone City, at Stone City, Aug. 12, 1903.

Mr. Cruikshank has lived for the past year in Anamosa.

Surviving are five children: Charles M., jr., Dawson, Ga.; Mrs. S. D. Spalding, Richmond, Va.; John L., Denver, Colo.; Mrs. R. M. Haas, Dubuque; and Rev. Daniel Leo, Peru, Ill.

Twelve grandchildren also survive.

One son, Louis Robert, preceded him in death.

Mr. Cruikshank at one time was in business in Stone City and later for a number of years was employed by Marshall Field and company, Chicago, as their representative in the western states.

He then served in the position of general manager for several midwest department stores among which were Stampfers, Dubuque; the Fair store, Chicago, and Berger's, Peoria, Ill.

After suffering from a heart ailment in 1948, he retired from business and shortly after that returned to Iowa.
