OXFORD JUNCTION - Funeral service for Edward Beranek, 62, was held Friday, Jan. 29, in the Hayden funeral home at 2 p.m. Mr. Beranek died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 27, at the Veteran's hospital at Knoxville, where he had been a patient for the past six years. He was a veteran of World War I.

Rev. Kenneth Harden conducted the service with Mrs. Hans Ahrendsen the soloist accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Lewis Hayden. Serving as casket bearers were members of the American Legion, Harry Klahn, August Petersen, Charles Sheldon, Thomas Hunwardsen, Ed Hill and Jens Latare. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery with the burial service by the American Legion.

Edward Beranek was born in Clinton county, in 1891, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Beranek. He lived his early life here where he was engaged in farming.

Survivors are a brother, John Beranek, Oxford Junction, and three sisters, Mrs. Antone Harda, Oxford Junction, Mrs. Julia Koranda, Davenport, and Mrs. Mary Bizek, Cedar Rapids. He was never married.
