Bruce S. Wright, 62, operator of the Iowan hotel in Anamosa, died Thursday night, Oct. 1, at Mercy hospital, following a long illness.

Funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, in Goettsch funeral home with Rev. Walter D. Wigger officiating. Burial will be in Michigan City, Ind., where services will be held Tuesday. Rev. Wigger will also officiate at the services in Michigan City.

Bruce Samuel Wright was one of four children born to Frank and Hattie Richter Wright. He was born on Nov. 14, 1890, in Grand Island, Nebr.

At the age of three years, Mr. Wright's family moved from Grand Island, Nebr., to Michigan City, Ind. He attended public schools of Michigan City.

On Dec. 30, 1916, he was married to Charity Guthrie at Frankford, Ky.

Mr. Wright came to Anamosa from Michigan City about 20 years ago to work for the Reliance Manufacturing Co., where he was employed for 38 years. He started with Reliance as a bundle-boy and worked his way up to serve as superintendent.

He served as superintendent of the plant in Loogootee, Ind., for eight years and had to retire because of ill health. He then came back to serve as assistant superintendent at Anamosa for 12 years.

In 1945, he and his wife, Charity, bought the Iowan hotel from Jesse Holden and have operated it since.

Mr. Wright was baptized into the membership of the First Baptist church, Seymur, Ind., in 1923. He became a member of the Masonic lodge in Seymour in 1921 and was a life-long member of the Royal Arcanum lodge, Michigan City.

His parents and one brother, Eric E., preceded him in death.

Surviving are his wife, and two sisters, Mrs. A. C. Westphal and Mrs. Louis Laughlin, both of Michigan City.
