CASCADE - Mrs. James A. Gavin, 81, Anamosa native, died at 4 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at her farm home five miles southeast of Cascade, after a lingering illness.

Funeral service was held at 9:30 a.m. at St. Martin's church. Burial was in Calvary cemetery, Cascade.

Born Nov. 17, 1873, at Anamosa, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Flannigan Fagan. She was married May 3, 1899, to James Gavin at St. Raphael's church in Dubuque.

She was a member of St. Martin's church and of its Rosary society.

Survivors are her husband; one son, Verdon, Cascade; five daughters, Mrs. Andrew (Marie) Delaney, Alexandria, Va., Mrs. Norbert (Carmel) Jurgens, Mrs. Loras (Alma) Orr, Mrs. Aurelia Tallman Lerch, all of Davenport, and Mrs. Joseph (Zelda) Dolphin, Cascade.

Two brothers, W. B. Fagan, Cascade, and Ed Fagan, Sioux City; one sister, Mrs. Angela Kehoe, Anamosa; 18 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Pete (Mary) McLean, Sioux City.
