March 23, 1953 - The Anamosa Journal

Mrs. Peter Wolfe, 65, life-long resident of Anamosa, died early last Saturday morning at Mercy hospital, after suffering a stroke at 2:30 p.m., Friday. She had been ill for several months.

Solemn Requiem High Mass will be sung at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 24, at St. Patrick's Catholic church. Rev. F. L. Wolfe will be celebrant, with Rev. J. I. Patnode as deacon and Rev. Vincent Simon as sub-deacon.

McNamara funeral home is handling arrangements. Burial will be in the Holy Cross cemetery.

Ida Pearl Ireland was born May 31, 1887, south of Anamosa, the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Katherine Margaret Ireland.

She was united in marriage to Peter Wolfe, Jan. 4, 1904, at Galena, Ill. Ten children were born to this union.

Mrs. Wolfe is survived by her husband; eight sons, Rev. F. L. Cedar Rapids; Jerald J., Cedar Falls; Leo K., Prairieburg; Chester P., Clinton; Joseph P., Robert L., Russell E., all of Anamosa; Pfc. John C., stationed at Camp Pendelton, Calif., with the U.S. Marines.

Two daughters, Wilma, Mrs. Frank O'Shea, Cascade and Mary, Mrs. William Farr, Clinton; 22 grandchildren and one brother, Robert Ireland, Anamosa, also survive.
