Funeral service for Mrs. Helena Harms, 76, who died Wednesday, Feb. 25, after a long illness was held Saturday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran church. Rev. H. E. Hahn, officiated. Burial was in the Wayne cemetery.

Casket bearers were Herman Peterson, Calvin Reiss, Earl Kitzmiller, Ben Paulson, Emil Paulson and Ferdinand Nissen.

Mrs. Harms was born the daughter of Nicholas and Ida nee Ingwersen Holst, near Clinton, March 28, 1876. She was baptized early in infancy on May 31, 1876, by Rev. C. Riedel.

As a child she moved with her parents to the Wayne community and was confirmed on May 20, 1899, in the Wayne Lutheran church by Rev. C. Mardorf.

On Nov. 4, 1897, she was united in marriage with John H. Harms. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Mardorf. Five children were born to this union, all of whom are living. They are: Herman, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; Ed and Mrs. Frank (Ida) Pillard; Anamosa; Karl and Esther, (Mrs. Ray Kromminga) Monticello.

In 1926, after nearly 30 years of farming in the Wayne community, the couple moved to Anamosa. Her husband preceded her in death, July 31, 1939.

Surviving besides her five children are two sisters, Mrs. A. G. Hanken, Monticello; and Mrs. Anna Petersen, Oxford Junction, one brother, Cornelius Holst, Onslow; 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
