J. P. Kirchen, 74, of Anamosa, died at Mercy hospital, Anamosa, Monday morning. Funeral services were held at St. Patrick's church in Anamosa this morning at 9:30 a.m. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery.

A printer for a number of years at the Anamosa reformatory and before that, a publisher of a Catholic-German newspaper in Cascade, Mr. Kirchen had lived his entire life in Dubuque and Jones counties.

Surviving are three sons, Ralph Kirchen of Dubuque, the Rev. Paul Kirchen of Helena, Mont., and Harold Kirchen of Anamosa; one brother, John Kirchen, Dubuque; and two sisters, Miss Angeline Kirchen of Cascade and Mrs. Emma Breitbach of Los Angeles, Calif. He was preceded by his wife.
