John Dedrich Behnken, 41, a former Richland township farmer who recently moved to a farm near Manchester, died unexpectedly in his automobile Tuesday morning.

According to the Jones county coroner, Behnken was enroute to Monticello when he apparently had a heart attack. He was unable to summon aid soon enough to prevent his death.

Behnken was born August 28, 1910 in Rocanville, Sask., Canada. He was married to Elda Herren; the couple were the parents of two boys, both of whom survive. Other survivors include his mother, Mrs. Helena Behnken, Anamosa, two brothers, Harm, Anamosa and Cpl. Gerd Behnken, Pine Camp, N.Y., and a sister, Mrs. Bertie Cross of Anamosa.

The funeral service will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Goettsch funeral home with burial in Riverside cemetery, Anamosa..
