Funeral services were held for Gerald (Ted) Ales, 75, of Oxford Junction at 10:30 on Monday, June 2 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial was at Mayflower Cemetery. The Rev. R. J. Sigwarth officiated. The Rosary was said on Sunday evening at the Hayden Funeral Home.

Mr. Ales died early Friday morning, May 30, at the Jackson County Public Hospital, Maquoketa.

He was born on November 4, 1904 at Wheatland to John and Catherine McAndrews Ales. He went to school at Lost Nation.

On November 25, 1937 he married Blanche Nowachek of Oxford Junction. He farmed between Oxford Junction and Lost Nation all of his life until retiring to town in 1978.

He was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Survivors are his wife, one son, Gerald of Davenport; two sisters, Mrs. Esther Nalley of Royal and Mrs. Helen Souhrada of Milwaukee, WI and one brother, Arthur of Menasha, WI.

Preceding him in death were his parents and one sister.

Pallbearers were Francis Gardner, Joe Seng, Joe Edwards, Ed McAndrews, Earl Busch and Dale Fields.
