MONTICELLO - Funeral services for Chester A. Condit, 64, were held Monday at 2:30 p.m. at First Congregational church, with the Rev. Glenn Bender officiating. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery.

Mr. Condit died last Thursday afternoon at St. Joseph hospital in Kirkwood, Mo. He had been a patient there since July 31 when he suffered a heart attack while visiting in the home of his daughter.

He was born May 16, 1902, at Souris, N.D., the son of Ernest and Agnes Watt Condit. He attended schools at Bottinuau, N.D.

On Nov. 28, 1923, he married Jennie Kippen and the couple made their home in North Dakota for ten years before coming to Iowa. In January 1936, Mr. Condit purchased an insurance agency in Monticello and has served the Monticello community for 30 years.

He was a member of First Congregational church of Monticello and the Monticello Lions club, of which he was a charter member and past president. He was also a member of the Iowa Accountants' Association and was a past member of the National Council of Camp Fire Girls.

Mr. Condit is survived by his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Donald D. (Margaret) Hastings of Kirkwood, Mo.; two grandsons and a granddaughter.

He is also survived by his mother and five brothers, Clifford of Houston, Tex., Orrin of Abilene, Kan., Leonard of Grand Island, Neb., Marion of Souris, N.D. and Ralph of Jena, La.

He was preceded in death by his father and an infant son Robert.

Pallbearers were H. Elvin Erdahl, James W. Nelson, Robert Durst, Orlando Null, William Moore and Sam Rhatigan.
