MONTICELLO - Funeral services for J. Gilbert Steiner, 49, life-long resident of Monticello, were held Friday afternoon, Jan. 6, at Goettsch funeral home. Paul Elliott of Aplington conducted the services. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery.

Mr. Steiner died Tuesday, Jan. 3, at his home of an apparent heart attack. He was born near Monticello, Jan. 17, 1917, the son of John and Lena Sieber Steiner. He attended the Jones county rural schools and the Monticello school.

He married Margaret Schilt Nov. 24, 1938, at the Evangelical and Reformed church in Monticello. They were the parents of four children.

For the past five years he had been employed at the Farmers Mutual creamery in Monticello.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Roland; two daughters, Mrs. C. J. (Marge) Chapman of Tipton and Mrs. Linda Maple of Olin; five grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Lena Steiner, and a brother, Harold, both of Monticello.

An infant daughter preceded him in death.

Pallbearers were Neman Meyer, Harold Linder, Glenn Cass, Ray Stange, William Hartke and Carl Hutton.
