MONTICELLO - Charles Karl Zumbrunnen, 79, died at John McDonald hospital Friday evening, Dec. 20, following a long illness. Funeral services were held from the Goettsch Funeral home in Monticello Sunday afternoon with the Rev. John Siegle in charge. Interment was made at the Pequot Lakes cemetery at Pequot Lakes, Minn.

He was born Oct. 21, 1884 at Lenk, Switzerland, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Zumbrunnen. He came to the United States when 9 years old and with his family settled in Jones county. He was married to Marie Lehamann June 1906. The couple farmed near Monticello and in 1914 moved to Minnesota where his wife died in 1926. He later returned to Monticello and was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed church here.

Survivors include the following children: Bernard J., St. Paul, Minn.; Mrs. William (Bertha) Dano, Yakima, Wash.; Alfred of Brainerd, Minn.; Mrs. Bernard (Mary) Curry of Davenport and Robert of Bozeman, Montana. There are also 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren surviving and one brother Gottlieb Zumbrunnen of Monticello.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two daughters, three brothers and one sister.
