MONTICELLO - Funeral services for Ernest Wahl, 72, were held Friday morning, Aug. 2, at St. Matthew Lutheran church with the Rev. LaVern Beemer, Anamosa, officiating. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery.

Mr. Wahl died July 30 at John McDonald hospital. He had been a patient there five days. He was born Aug. 2, 1890 at Langworthy, the son of Charles and Margaret Edwards Wahl. He attended the Marion public schools.

On Feb. 14, 1917, he was married to Elisa Freese at Monticello. They made their home in Marion for two years, then farmed north of Monticello until moving into town in 1946.

He was an agent for the German Mutual Insurance Co. at the time of his death. He was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran church.

Survivors include his wife Elisa of the home; two sons, Robert L. of Monticello and Dr. Earl L. of Anamosa; 10 grandchildren; three brothers, Lawrence of Truth & Consequences, N.M., Fred of Santa Anna, Calif. and Elmer of Gunnison, Colo.; one sister, Mrs. Charles Dedek of Albuquerque, N.M.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Louis and Carl.
